On 17August 2023. The Place played host to the family of prominent Bialystokresident Samuel
Pisar.
Samuel Pisar`s daughter, Mrs Aleksanda Pisar-Pinto, and her
family, during a visit of several hours to The Place, became acquainted with the collections and
memorabilia on display at The Place, including those dedicated to her father. She also received a
commemorative pack of postcards prepared by The Association of the Museum of Bialystok Jews to mark the
anniversary of the uprising.
Samuel Pisar (born 18 March 1929
in Białystok, died 27 July 2015 in New York) -Polish-American lawyer, social activist, human rights
defender, politician and writer of Jewish origin. Attaché in the office of the UN Secretary-General
andattaché to the Director-General of UNESCO. Founder and President of the French branch of Yad
Vashem, administrator of the Shoah Memorial Foundation.
Ms Aleksandra Pisar-Pinto visited Białystok as guest of honour at the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Białystok Ghetto Uprising.
